Self Care During Quarantine

Maybe like me, you're thinking you should be extra productive with all of the extra time on your hands right now. I have gotten a few projects done that I otherwise wouldn't have had time for. However, I need to be careful not to fall prey to the news cycle frenzy. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being informed and think it's very important to understand what's going on in our world. However, finding time to take care of myself is more important even than those long put-off projects.

So, how are you finding time and space for self care? I know many of you are taking advantage of our online classes, and I love seeing your faces! I know that you, like me, feel the difference Pilates makes in your every day life. I'm trying to be sure I do Pilates every day and get in 10,000 steps around my neighborhood. I'm trying to eat healthy and find time to connect with family and friends over Zoom, read for fun, and have been playing lots of cards and Rummy Tile with my husband. How about you?

I came across this list in an article online of great self care tips!

Here are some great ways to take care of yourself while we are asked to stay home and away from others outside of our household.

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media.

Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting

  • Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate

  • Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs

  • Read some books.

  • Go outside for a walk

  • Brew some tea and color

  • Have a picnic

  • Make some popcorn and have a movie marathon

  • Put together those puzzles you have sitting around.

  • Do some early-spring gardening

  • Start a new hobby

  • Take a bath and listen to music

  • Exercise

  • Declutter your house.

  • Take a walk and photograph everything

  • Write down what you are grateful for

  • Send a postcard or letter to a friend or family member

(thanks to for the list)

What are your self care tips, favorite books or best recipes?

Take care and stay well until we are together again in person!
