Love Stories ~ Meet Dena

I thought I'd take the opportunity for our clients to get to know us a little better, starting with myself!

I started Pilates when my youngest son was in elementary school. I can't even remember how I heard about it, but it seemed like a good idea. I took mat classes 3 times a week at the employee gym where my husband John worked. I soon realized that my back pain due to scoliosis was gone, and instead of three trips a week to the chiropractor, it was now three trips a week to Pilates class, which was much more fun!

When did you start Love Pilates and why?

I started Love Pilates in 2015, about a year and a half after finishing my Pilates certification. I had always wanted to own my own business, and it seemed like the perfect fit.

Describe your workouts. How many days a week do you workout?

I try to workout at least three days a week, but admit that I sometimes just can't get them in. I believe consistency is always best, so 2 to 3 times a week is a great amount for anyone!

What is your current fitness goal?

My current goal is to stay healthy, fit and active so I can enjoy my life now that I am an empty-nester.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

I am thrilled that so may people enjoy coming to Love Pilates not only for the classes but for the community we've built and the friends they've made.

What helps you stay on track?

I feel better when I stay on track with my Pilates workouts, and feeling good is my best motivator!

What do you do when you're not at the studio?

I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, reading, and laying by my pool. My favorite pass time is spending time with my husband camping.

Do you have a favorite exercise or favorite piece of equipment?

I love all of the equipment, buy my favorite is the Wunda Chair as I find it the most challenging. "Step-Up" (mountain climber) is my favorite exercise on the Wunda chair.

Describe our studio in 3 words.

Welcoming, accepting, encouraging.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting Pilates?

Give it a try, and stick with it! You won't be sorry! It's the best investment you can make in your future self.
