Love Stories ~ Meet Maurine Michell
I'd like to introduce you to Maurine Mitchell. Maurine has been attending classes at Love Pilates for almost a year. She sought out Pilates reformer classes after completing physical therapy for a knee injury. She's always smiling and positive, and lovely to have in class or be in class with!
When did you start working out at Love Pilates and why?
My daughter in law gifted me a certificate for 4 classes back in May 2018"
Describe your workouts. How many days a week do you workout?
Once I completed the initial 4 classes, I signed up for 10 classes per month. I currently have signed up for membership and 15 classes per month.
What is your current fitness goal?
When I began, my goal was to get stronger, stretching and hopefully alleviate pain I was experiencing in my right knee. That has been exceeded.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
I have become much stronger. I'm sure that attending Pilates has helped tremendously with my knee issues. I know these are results of stretching the supporting leg muscles and core.
What helps you stay on track?
I must say I love my classes and instructors and community of people who also attend these classes.
What do you do when you're not at the studio?
I've been retired for many years. I love attending activities of my grandchildren. 6 girls and 5 boys. I have said I believe Grandparent is the best job ever. I also love traveling and have recently began to do more.
Do you have a favorite exercise or favorite piece of equipment?
I really like the reformer. It has so many multiple uses. I like most of our exercises. Our instructors make our workouts fun.
Describe our studio in 3 words.
I think LOVE PILATES explains it all. ♥️
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting Pilates.
If you want to work out and feel a real accomplishment, I would suggest giving it a try. Many of us have had past injuries and are still able to do the workouts. Our Instructors suggest alternative methods that work for each person's individual need in regard to injury. I do think if you try Pilates, you will keep coming back.
